Hank Childs has been a giant in the Portland golf scene for almost 50 years. A member of the PGA since the late 1970’s, Hank began his career at Eastmoreland Golf Course in southeast Portland where he worked for 19 years, including the last 10 as the Head Teaching Professional. It was there that he developed one of the strongest teaching programs in the Northwest and taught thousands of students throughout the region.
In 1994, Hank was awarded the concessions contract for Rose City Golf Club in northeast Portland, where he was the PGA Head Professional for 29 years. During this period, Hank also found time to compete throughout the Pacific Northwest in PGA-sponsored events, all the while continuing to instruct many students, some of whom have been his clients for 30-plus years. Throughout the years, he was passionate about making golf accessible to all Portlanders and was involved in the development of numerous programs to grow the game.
